Use AirDrop on iPhone to send items to nearby Apple devices

If you want to send something from an application you’re currently using, the process is similar to sending through an iOS device. Look for the same share button, the box with the arrow coming out of it, and click that. Then, simply click syntellicore on the name of the recipient you wish to send the file to. Transfer between two iOS devices

Since incidents like these several years ago Apple has now removed the “everyone” setting and replaced it with “everyone for 10 minutes”. This means that after 10 minutes have expired, not just anyone can send you an AirDrop. When the available devices are in view, simply drag and drop the file you want to send onto the name of the device you want to send it to. In this case, it’s helpful to move the file onto your desktop beforehand. “Contacts Only” is just what it sounds like, only your contacts will know you’re on AirDrop. “Everyone” means that any person with an Apple device in range can see your device.

But both Bluetooth and NFC are relatively slow compared to Wi-Fi, which makes sharing larger files using AirDrop much faster and more convenient. Tap Contacts Only to ensure your device is only visible to contacts. Or tap Everyone to allow your device to be seen by any compatible devices nearby (you still have to accept any file transfers). AirDrop must be selected in a Finder window sidebar to be able to transfer files. Furthermore, files are not automatically accepted, but instead give a prompt asking to receive or decline the file sent. What’s great about AirDrop is its simplicity.

HOW TO RESTRICT WHO CAN REACH YOU WITH AIRDROP:

If you’d like to use AirDrop between a Mac and an iOS device, though, the specifications are a little different. For starters, both your Mac and iOS device must have both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled. They don’t need to be on a specific Wi-Fi network, though. AirDrop can be enabled unofficially on iPad (3rd generation) by jailbreaking the device and installing “AirDrop Enabler 7.0+” from Cydia.

You can put your AirDrop receiving setting to Contacts Only or Receiving Off at any time to control who can see your device and send you content in AirDrop.
