The Warrington Country Club: It’s a Culture

Eight years ago, when searching for my career I was asked a question during an interview about what meant more to me: recognition or compensation.  I immediately began thinking of a culture where employees recognized each other’s hard work.  Where a flat rate compensation didn’t reward all the subtle and grand efforts key employees exuded.

Here at the Warrington Country Club we embrace a different approach.  One where hard work is recognized as soon as a fellow employee exceeds the expectations of our guests, demonstrates a phenomenal work ethic, displays a willingness to learn more about the position, and an eagerness to teach others.

4.9 out of 5 stars is achieved by developing a culture within the four walls of a business and we have defined part of our culture as such:

Every event, our management has a specific topic geared around improving our customer service and rewarding employees through recognition cards for displaying these improvements.  Employees who consistently engage customers to ensure our operations and customer interactions reach excellence are given additional “recognition cards” that are posted on a board.  The employee who demonstrates the qualities we shape our culture around most evidently receives a prize for that month based on the amount of “recognition cards” they received.

Our October and November wait staff winners, Janine and Jamar respectively, performed exceedingly well, which resulted in a manager working one of their shifts for them the following month.  Janine used her night to go out with her husband while Jamar spent the remainder of his weekend in New York where he currently goes to business school.

Recognition is in addition to compensation at the Warrington Country Club, a family operated business, where co-associates are rewarded for their hard work.  It takes a full team to make anyone’s wedding day complete and special.  That’s something we will always embrace and value at our event venue in Bucks County.
