Wedding Trends of 2015: What We’ve Seen at the Warrington

wedding trends of 2015Having trouble deciding on the look and feel of your wedding? Perhaps you don’t even have a theme picked out?

From centerpieces to card baskets, table seating cards to personal decoration ideas, here at the Warrington we quickly get a sense of what is trending in the wedding industry. Hopefully these ideas will spark some creativity within you for your big day!

Themes

It’s always a good idea to have a theme for your wedding, and many couples, of course, choose a theme based on their interests. For a really nice beach theme, for example, decorate with sea shells, treasure chest card boxes, and various shades of blue. The rustic chic theme has been trending lately — think burlap, wooden signs, window pane seating charts, and bird cages for cards. Downton Abbey themes with elegant and vintage decorations are also popular. What will be your theme?

Cake Toppers

Couples are steering away from the traditional kissing-bride-and-groom cake topper. Instead, cake toppers are better reflecting the couples’ interests, hobbies, and relationships with one another. A recent cake topper for a beach/boating themed wedding at the Warrington had the groom with a fishing rod, casting a line out to his bride below.  We’ve even had Mickey and Minnie Mouse for a Disney themed wedding. Find something that captures you and your spouse; it makes for a great keepsake after you cut the cake!

Why a Fall Wedding Should Be at the Top of Your Big Day’s Wish List

Fall foliage, harvest-themed fashion, and recent renovations at the Warrington Country Club

fall weddingEven if you’re still in the very beginning stages of planning your wedding day, you’ve probably already figured out that choosing a season for the ceremony, and then a specific month, should almost certainly be the very first step of your planning process.

According to The Knot, June, August and September are three of the year’s most popular wedding day months. Which shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise — the time-honored spring or summer wedding, after all, has long been thought of as a customary nuptial tradition. In some circles, it’s practically expected.

But we’d like to officially register our approval for a matrimonial trend that seems to be increasing in popularity with each new year: getting married in the gorgeously elegant season of autumn.

There are so many reasons to consider a fall wedding: The romantically crisp weather. The warm colors and flavors of the harvest season. An autumn-themed reception, complete with a roaring fireplace.

For your own planning purposes, here are a few more fall-season factors to bear in mind while putting together the details of your big day. Continue Reading Why a Fall Wedding Should Be at the Top of Your Big Day’s Wish List

Weddings, brunches, and more! No matter your special event, we have you covered

Mother's Day FlowersSpring is here and a season of new events has begun for the Warrington Country Club. We are kicking things off with the “Perfect Match” wedding event. Then we will help you treat your mother to the brunch of her dreams with our annual Mother’s Day Brunch. We will also profile our phenomenal executive chef, John Smola.

Finding the Perfect Match

The Perfect Match wedding event will be hosted at the Warrington Country Club on Tuesday, May 27. Perfect Match is an opportunity for local couples to win gifts and services for their upcoming nuptials. The event will also feature local wedding vendors, many of whom are donating gifts of their services to one lucky couple. Couples can sign up online to attend as members of the audience. Six couples (in each round) will be randomly selected from the audience to compete for the Perfect Match grand prize. These 12 couples will compete across a series of 2 rounds, along with a final bonus round. The ultimate goal is to be the couple that knows the most about one another. Everyone will get into the fun as couples find out how much they really know about each other. The couple with the most points wins the grand prize. Last year the total value of the services won as prizes was over $12,000. Prizes this year are expected to be similar. Continue Reading Spring Events at the Warrington Country Club

5 Wedding Trends For the Inspired Bride-to-Be

1. Make It Fun: Fun elements give a good-natured feel to your wedding day. For example, photo booths are becoming increasingly popular, and the props used can make the basis for your wedding theme. Props that represent the bride and groom’s personalities are great plus and can add some real color and interesting poses to the wedding photographs. Make sure to have tonnes of moustaches, luscious lips and top hats to finish off the theatrics! Transform the props into design ideas that can be incorporated throughout the wedding stationery, table decorations, etc.

2. Make It Posh: Candles and chandeliers are huge this wedding season and can add a mood and aristocracy to the reception. For outside events use hanging glass candle jars, Christmas lights and chandeliers dangling from the trees. Indoors, take advantage of high ceilings with extra special crystal chandeliers or create an indoor canopy of lights. Indoors or outdoors, be sure to suspend candles from tall floral arrangements or cluster candles in groups.

3. Make It…Pork?: The Entrée of the Year is Pork! Surprise guests and cater to the foodies with a main course that veers away from the expected beef or chicken offerings. Whether the wedding style is fun, chic, traditional, southern-style, elegant or funky, brides across the board are demanding elegant, restaurant quality, gourmet style menu offerings for their guests.

4. Make It Pop: The cake, that is. The dominating cake trend right now is clean and modern − with just one amazing pop of embellishment such as a bow, monogram or flower. The other major style takes the opposite tack, using eye-popping color or all-over appliqués. And finally, a traditional idea has come around again: Brides are requesting cakes that mimic wedding-dress details such as lace.

5. Make It Move: Gone are the days of the electric slide, that leads to the 1950’s set, followed by the 1980’s set, sprinkled with a few pop chart hits to get the crowd limping (or not) to the dance floor. Brides and grooms now want to mix genres and play everything from James Brown to Michael Jackson to Beyoncé in the same set and appeal to everyone at the wedding. Blending electronic music, Mumford & Sons, sexy Brazilian house and bossa nova is a refreshing change that really gets the party started. Another surprising trend is to have live musicians that play along with the DJ.

2013 Wedding Trends

Alright brides and grooms, the new year is just around the corner which means your wedding could be too! If you are planning a 2013 wedding there are some things you should be looking out for in the planning process and may want to consider including.

Reception Lounge

This trend began in take off in 2012 and it’s expected to get even more popular in 2013. The reception lounge offers a little getaway from the dance floor for guests to eat, drink and mingle in a relaxed setting. The lounge is a perfect spot to feature your signature cocktail, finger foods, a photo booth, a build-your-own drink station or any table games. Definitely a groom’s favorite!

Fabulous Florals

For spring 2013 weddings, soft shades of yellows mixed with grays and lots of pastels will be included in the wedding floral decor. Come summer, get ready to see over-sized and brightly colored blooms. Also, an emerging trend will be the “just picked from the garden” look and feel with hand tied bouquets and lush, mixed centerpieces.

Extended Wedding Receptions

A growing trend in 2012 was the “after party” following the reception which included its own music, food and other specialized components. Many couples will look to continue this trend in 2013, and others will look to do a similar thing without all the extra expenses. Receptions will last a little longer so that couples can fit in all the entertainment and food they wish. Some receptions will be divided into three sections, the cocktail hour with low-key music and food, the dinner “hour” (usually two to three hours) with the expected wedding traditions, and then two to three hours of loud music and dancing for all the late-night guests.

Emerging Patterns and PrintsBucks County Wedding Trends

Everything from the popular stripes and chevron of 2012 will continue to grow in popularity, but we will also see delicate florals, bold graphic prints, gingham, paisley and even some polka dots enter the wedding scene. Not only will these looks be used in the wedding party attire, but also as accents for table runners, napkins, centerpieces and invitations.

Wedding Reception Planning is as Easy as Drag and Drop

So you’re engaged?! Congratulations!!

There’s so much to consider as you make plans for spending your lives together: Where will we live? How should we divide the household chores? How can we possibly have Great Aunt Arlene and Babcia Olga in the same reception room together without words being exchanged or cake being tossed into each other’s perfectly teased and sprayed hair?

Reception seating arrangements has long been a source of concern and frustration for many a bridal couple. Striking that delicate balance between honoring particular guests with preferable seating, while being thoughtful regarding physical needs of elderly or infirmed guests, AND making sure that the “cool” people sit together, is the holy grail of wedding planning. Many a pencil eraser has been sacrificed attempting to set this plan into motion.

Now, thanks to the many wedding planning software choices available (some even free of charge), seating arrangements, as well as many of other challeneges inherent in arranging the most important day in a couple’s life, is as easy a click and drag.

Just a few tasks that are now easily organized by using wedding software are:

  • Contacts – Organize the guest list, track e-mail addresses, names of guests invited by your contacts, meals and gifts and more efficiently.
  • Invitations – customize wording according to your preferences. A unique RSVP ID can be assigned to each invitation and printed on the back of the RSVP for identification purposes in case guests do not write their names on the RSVP.
  • RSVPs– record all acceptances and regrets and compile into an attendees file.
  • Seating Arrangements – Design a seating chart with table layout features. Seating guests is like a puzzle, and creating a table layout can be like a game with seating arrangement software. Assign attendees to tables using drag-and-drop capabilities, playing with possible seating scenarios. Customizing placecards is then a snap using the software.
  • Gifts – Track engagement and wedding gifts, gift giver information, and document if and when the thank you note was sent.
  • Vendors – Many business and professionals service the average wedding. It is important to keep vendor information organized to ensure that wedding specifics are handled smoothly and professionally. Store contracts with the photographer, caterer and facilities, track floral orders, bridal salon information, sign for and receive deliveries, etc.

Taking advantage of the powerful planning tools available through wedding organizing software may not prevent Arlene and Olga from rehashing the infamous Thanksgiving incident of 1982, but it does put you on top of the many tasks that are sure to come your way when arranging your special day.

Remember, any wedding held at the Warrington Country Club includes an experienced, knowledgeable wedding coordinator who will assist you, your family and guests in having a trouble-free memorable day.  Contact us for more information on a Bucks County Wedding Reception or Call us at (215) 343-1630.

The Only Limit is Your Imagination When Devising a Wedding Theme

Your wedding can be anything you want it to be at the Warrington Country Club. Are you considering an Arabian Nights fantasy, a 1920’s jazz-age gala, a celebration of Irish / Chinese / French / Italian / Scottish (think kilts) heritage, a take-me-out-to-the-ballgame motif, or a hunk of burin’ love Vegas-style extravaganza? Your wedding planning partners at the Warrington Country Club are prepared to make your special day an event to remember!

Theme weddings have become all the rage, as brides and grooms increasingly seek a personalized alternative to wedding-business-as-usual. Many couples who initially consider the possibility of a themed event dismiss it out of fear of botching the delicate balance between creative and tacky. Let the expert wedding planners at the Warrington Country Club assuage your fears, develop your vision fully and take the stress and guesswork out of planning the most significant event of your life!

The popularity of wedding inspired reality television has elevated the “destination wedding” to near cult status. However, in actual reality, traveling to a far-off land is often not practical for couples, or the people they want to share their once-in-a-lifetime day with. With expert planning, an exotic island, beach or even Renaissance Faire can come to you and is as close as Bucks County!

Seasonal themes are a specialty at the Warrington Country Club. You and your guests can enjoy the best of Bucks County year-round:

  • Maybe a summer family-style barbeque of grilled seasonal fair and gazpacho shooters is your speed, complete with checkered-print table linens, lush greenery and flip-flop wearing guests. Or perhaps you’re more of an elegant summer-in-Hamptons type, with a decadent meal of lobster and filet served under a canopy twinkling with outdoor lights.
  • Burnt orange, rich fabrics like taffeta and brocade, and leaves (lots of them) accent your fall wedding. Guests can enjoy a rich cream soup in a small hollowed out pumpkin shell and hot apple cider while cozying up at our fireplace.
  • Illuminate the drama of your winter wedding with sleek white décor, crystal and metallic accents and soft blue hues in the glow of candle light. Winter weddings were made for a formal black-tie event commemorated in black and white photography. A vodka luges ice sculpture is a fun and memorable way to thaw the frostiest reception guest and get the party started.
  • The soft, romantic pastels of spring may be the traditional choice; however, an all-white wedding with a surprising “pop” of fluorescent color is the trend for fashionable spring nuptials. Romance rules in the spring, so don’t hesitate to up the ante of a spring wedding with fairy-tale-esque details such as ultra-romantic attire, layers of tulle, a meadow-full of peonies and hyacinths, and a meal consisting of tasting plates of watermelon salad, sweet pea risotto and finger sandwiches.

These suggestions are only the tip of the iceberg (hum, an ocean theme in the making, perhaps?) when it comes to the endless possibilities for your theme wedding at the Warrington Country Club.

What theme are you considering for your wedding, or what interesting/unusual theme weddings have you been the guest of? Let us know!

The Virtual Bridal Dressing Room

There is certainly no risk, mid-way through the year 2012, to boldly declare that modern society embraces technology. We love it. We can’t seem to get enough of it.

Every single day it seems another product or service, which was once clearly in the domain of “bricks and mortar”, has gone the way of “click and order”. Gone are the days when the delivery of books, clothing or shoes within days of placing an order online is considered revolutionary. Now it seems almost anything can be purchased conveniently online, and received equally as conveniently on one’s doorstep in less than a week.

Almost anything.

Of course there still exist items that one could never order online. Some things are just too specialized, too customized, just too darn important, to ever leave to the anonymity of a keyboard and screen. Some things must be experienced, touched and tried on in effort to judge the appearance and fit. Things like, say, a wedding dress–right?

Not so fast.

Brides.com has introduced an online feature whereby a bride-to-be can create a head-to-toe wedding-day look, and never leave the comfort of her home. Called “The Brides Dressing Room”, a woman can upload her own photograph, or use a body model provided, and virtually try on an endless selection of dresses searched by silhouette, price, designer and hemline. The same online feature is available to bridesmaids and the mother of the bride as well.

Once an account is established and a picture (taken against a plain-colored background while wearing form fitting attire such as a bathing suit) is uploaded, the user clicks and drags “fit points” on to the picture. These fit points determine how the dress fits the body. The fit can be adjusted simply by use of the navigation bar. Favorites can be saved to an album and shared (say it all together) on Facebook where “Friends” can weigh in on the selection.
I don’t want to sound old, cynical or in any way anti-technology, however, in my humble opinion; I believe some once-in-a-lifetime purchases deserve a trip, via motor-car or trolley, to the local mercantile.

Luckily, Brides.com believes as I do and has made it as easy as a keystroke to find the nearest store to find the virtual selection in real-life — where one can seek the assistance of a professional in the selection and fit of the most important ensembles of a lifetime.

Who knows, maybe this internet-thingy isn’t so alienating after all.

Such is the current trend in wedding dance planning for the foreseeable future. Emboldened by the granddaddy of choreographed wedding dance videos, “JK Wedding Entrance Dance” has been viewed 76, 232, 920 times since it was posted two years ago:

Make that 76,232,921 views to date.

This is not to suggest that such wedding dance classics such as the introduction of the bridal party, the bride and groom’s first dance, and the dance that has ruined more mascara, “Daddy’s Little Girl”, are no longer acceptable at the modern wedding reception. Plenty of seasoned reception guests look forward to, nay demand, the chair dance, the money dance, the chicken dance, YMCA and Celebration.

With an average of 22.7 million viewers in the U.S. bearing witness to the most anticipated wedding of 2011, it’s no wonder that Kate’s (not Kim’s) Royal Wedding has become the prominent trend-setter for wedding style in 2012. Regal glamor is in-style, tacky Hollywood is out.

Clearly, brides today are leaning towards grace and sophistication for their nuptials.

Other wedding trends include:

  • An intimate setting, meaning less guests and an emphasis on high quality choices in food and music.
  • Bolder, brighter centerpieces, color-blocked from opposite ends of the color spectrum. For example, tangerine balanced against aquamarine or Rose juxtaposed with shades of sapphire.
  • Bridesmaids and the Maid of Honor wearing light hues, and even white (gasp!)
  • Modest gowns and long white gloves.
  • Soft and flowing hair styles, as opposed to severe updo’s.
