A Rave Review from a Highly Satisfied Newlywed

newlywedWe recently earned a rave review on TheKnot.com from a newlywed who was married at the Warrington Country Club on New Year’s Eve 2014.

We were so thrilled with the note that we wanted to share it with all of you:

Everything was perfect and stress-free. From the time we met with Sheryl to book and plan the wedding (which had a 3-month turnaround) to the day of the event, when Tracy happily and seamlessly coordinated every aspect of our day, we felt confident that everything was going to be perfect.

They are beyond professional, they actually enjoy what they do, and [they] tend to every request happily: room changes, time changes, decor, food requests…

On the day of the wedding, the facility was beautifully decorated from the holidays, the food was absolutely amazing, they gave us so many options to offer our guests, the servings were plentiful, and everyone had a blast.

I literally had nothing to do but show up and enjoy my wedding. I cannot thank them enough for providing a beautiful affair that our guests have been raving about ever since!!!

2013 Wedding Trends

Alright brides and grooms, the new year is just around the corner which means your wedding could be too! If you are planning a 2013 wedding there are some things you should be looking out for in the planning process and may want to consider including.

Reception Lounge

This trend began in take off in 2012 and it’s expected to get even more popular in 2013. The reception lounge offers a little getaway from the dance floor for guests to eat, drink and mingle in a relaxed setting. The lounge is a perfect spot to feature your signature cocktail, finger foods, a photo booth, a build-your-own drink station or any table games. Definitely a groom’s favorite!

Fabulous Florals

For spring 2013 weddings, soft shades of yellows mixed with grays and lots of pastels will be included in the wedding floral decor. Come summer, get ready to see over-sized and brightly colored blooms. Also, an emerging trend will be the “just picked from the garden” look and feel with hand tied bouquets and lush, mixed centerpieces.

Extended Wedding Receptions

A growing trend in 2012 was the “after party” following the reception which included its own music, food and other specialized components. Many couples will look to continue this trend in 2013, and others will look to do a similar thing without all the extra expenses. Receptions will last a little longer so that couples can fit in all the entertainment and food they wish. Some receptions will be divided into three sections, the cocktail hour with low-key music and food, the dinner “hour” (usually two to three hours) with the expected wedding traditions, and then two to three hours of loud music and dancing for all the late-night guests.

Emerging Patterns and PrintsBucks County Wedding Trends

Everything from the popular stripes and chevron of 2012 will continue to grow in popularity, but we will also see delicate florals, bold graphic prints, gingham, paisley and even some polka dots enter the wedding scene. Not only will these looks be used in the wedding party attire, but also as accents for table runners, napkins, centerpieces and invitations.

Fall in Love: Points to Ponder When Planning a Fall Bucks County Wedding

By nature, fall was custom-made for getting’ hitched.

Bucks County Fall Wedding at Warrington Country Club

Bucks County in the Fall

The brilliant colors that accentuate this special time of year– nestled between the end of the sweltering summer heat and the starkness of the winter frost are ready-made for a celebration. The rich vibrancy of fall hues of yellow, orange, burgundy and gold is a perfect launching point to create a magnificent indoor or outdoor Bucks County wedding.

As beautiful as fall is with the splendor of nature, there are certainly many challenges that must be considered when planning autumnal nuptials.

1. Variable fall weather:

  •   Autumn weather can be unpredictable. A warm and sunny afternoon and quickly turn down-right cold the moment the sun goes down. Prepare your bridal party for both extremes by choosing a layered ensemble. Be sure bare shoulders by the light of day can be quickly, and stylishly, covered when evening arrives. Remind your quests, via a wedding website or other forms of communication, to also be prepared for a changeable thermostat. If hosting an outdoor event, provide heating lamps or a fire pit to warm guests unaccustomed to those first blasts of chilly fall air.
  • Using seasonal flowers is an elegant strategy for keeping costs down, however, be ready should an early cold-snap send your snap-dragons out-of-season in an instant. Consider switching to hardier fall favorites such as Dahlias or chrysanthemums. Take advantage of the many beautiful fall fruits and vegetables, like crabapples and ornamental cabbage, to spice up the bouquet and venue.

2. Fall is a busy time of year.

  • Back to school, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving and several Jewish holidays can wreak havoc on a schedule. A little research and a save-the-date announcement delivered far in advance will go a long way in accommodating as many guests as possible.

3. As picturesque as fall foliage is, ragweed can steal the show.

  • Even if you or the members of your wedding party have never experienced the sneezing and watery-eyes associated with allergies, on your wedding day it is best to make like a boy scout and be prepared. This means having non-drowsy, over-the-counter antihistamine, tissues and eye drops on hand should an allergy attack arise.

4. You might want to take a pass on your mother’s pure white dress.

  • A bright white dress can clash among the deep, rich colors of fall. Consider an off-white variation to take full advantage of the season. Of course the day won’t be ruined nor your vows nullified should you choose to wear bright white. Just realize that it is these kinds of details that make the aesthetics of your day go from just “lovely” to a resounding “WOW!”

Contact the Warrington Country Club today to schedule an appointment to discuss your vision of the perfect Autumn Bucks County Wedding. They will provide solutions to any questions you have about making your special day the Autumn Event of the Year!!!

A Small Bucks County Wedding

Chances are astronomical that whenever a couple announces a new engagement, the conversation will swiftly turn to the breadth and width of the impending nuptials. While this knee jerk-reaction to the word “wedding” is understandable, one must remember that not every celebration of marriage must be measured in tonnage.

There is another way…Bucks County Wedding at the Warrington Country Club

The wedding coordinators at the Warrington Country Club are expert in planning a Bucks County wedding of any size. A small, more intimate celebration may be more preferable to the wedding couple than the big, splashy, event-of-the-century type of affair for a variety of reasons:

1. The budget is small—fewer guests, by its very nature, cost less. Or, if the couple is determined to indulge their guests with only the finest of culinary offerings, the couple can treat fewer guests like royalty and not blow the lid off the budget.
2. Creative freedom—a small event allows the couple to customize the day and fully express who they are. This kind of personalization tends to get watered down when the numbers on the invitation list goes up.
3. Emotional connection — with fewer people to contend with, the couple can spend more of their precious time with the very people who mean the most to them. Also, the guests in attendance feel welcomed, special and more intimately connected with the couple because, well, they made the cut…
4. Everyone can play – Requesting assistance with the minor tasks that come along with planning any event is an easier ask when the event is small, as opposed to asking for help with an event resembling the size of fleet week.
5. Creating an atmosphere that celebrates the guests as much as the wedding couple – Very few people make it to the alter without a parade of people behind them who helped get them along to this stage in life. Why should this day be just about the newly married couple? Fewer guests mean everyone is celebrated. Everyone is in the pictures, everyone has a chance wish the couple well, and everyone is attendance matters.

No waiting in a reception line, no impersonal “table 7” cards – Plan an event that is personal, intimate and memorable for all in attendance.

Second Weddings: Answers to the Top 4 Most Pressing Etiquette Questions

It’s been saidGreater Philadelphia Area Wedding Venue-Warrington Country Club that love is “sweeter the second time around”, but planning a second wedding can quickly turn sour if wedding plans get off on the wrong foot. Let the professional Bucks County wedding planners of the Warrington Country Club guide you in the best customs and practices of a second wedding — so getting hitched goes without a hitch.

Here are the most frequently asked questions of encore brides and grooms:

  1. Q: Is it appropriate for the bride to wear white?
A: It is a myth that a re-bride cannot wear white. The beauty and freedom in the second wedding it that the bride is not bound to any particular custom or tradition. She can wear whatever looks best on her; be it ivory, cream, pink, yellow or any other color of her choice.
  2. Q: Should there be attendants?
A: The good news for the girlfriends of the bride is that a gaggle of identically dressed bridesmaids in a row probably seems out of place at a second wedding. That’s not to say that the bridal couple won’t benefit from the supportive presence of their children, friends, family and other loved ones. One maid of honor and one best man should probably do the trick.
  3. Q: Is a big splashy event tacky?
A: If the first nuptials for either party were a large, traditional occasion-to-remember style event, a splashy soirée the second time around may be too similar for comfort—especially if the first marriage ended badly. Furthermore, first weddings are often driven by the agenda (and wallets) of the couple’s parents, and frequently include many parent-inspired guests. A more mature couple, most likely footing their own bill, will probably desire a more intimate, low-key affair with the most important people of their choosing. This being said, the beauty of a second wedding is that there are no hard-and-fast rules. If either the bride or groom missed out on a big event the first time around and wants to celebrate large, there is nothing in the rule books that says they can’t.
  4. Q: What about the kids?
A: Absolutely include the children to the extent that they want to be involved. The best rule of thumb is to ask the children for their input, then respect their wishes and include them as much (or little) as they want to be included. There are endless ways to include the kids: a bride may have her son walk her down the aisle or have her daughter and or new step-daughter serve as the special attendant. A son may act as his father’s best man. Lighting a unity candle all together during the ceremony is a nice touch and symbolizes the blending of two families into one. Couples can incorporate “family vows” into the wedding vows during which the parents promise to love and care for their new step children. Having the new family sit together as one unit is a nice touch at the reception. Of course gift giving, before, during or after the event is always appreciated by youngsters. The point is to make the children feel important and valuable during this important time in their parents, and their own, life history.

Planning a second wedding need not be a source of anxiety. Ask the helpful wedding planners at the Warrington Country Club for guidance in making a “re-do” into the “must-do” event of a lifetime!! Call us at (215) 343-1630.

The Only Limit is Your Imagination When Devising a Wedding Theme

Your wedding can be anything you want it to be at the Warrington Country Club. Are you considering an Arabian Nights fantasy, a 1920’s jazz-age gala, a celebration of Irish / Chinese / French / Italian / Scottish (think kilts) heritage, a take-me-out-to-the-ballgame motif, or a hunk of burin’ love Vegas-style extravaganza? Your wedding planning partners at the Warrington Country Club are prepared to make your special day an event to remember!

Theme weddings have become all the rage, as brides and grooms increasingly seek a personalized alternative to wedding-business-as-usual. Many couples who initially consider the possibility of a themed event dismiss it out of fear of botching the delicate balance between creative and tacky. Let the expert wedding planners at the Warrington Country Club assuage your fears, develop your vision fully and take the stress and guesswork out of planning the most significant event of your life!

The popularity of wedding inspired reality television has elevated the “destination wedding” to near cult status. However, in actual reality, traveling to a far-off land is often not practical for couples, or the people they want to share their once-in-a-lifetime day with. With expert planning, an exotic island, beach or even Renaissance Faire can come to you and is as close as Bucks County!

Seasonal themes are a specialty at the Warrington Country Club. You and your guests can enjoy the best of Bucks County year-round:

  • Maybe a summer family-style barbeque of grilled seasonal fair and gazpacho shooters is your speed, complete with checkered-print table linens, lush greenery and flip-flop wearing guests. Or perhaps you’re more of an elegant summer-in-Hamptons type, with a decadent meal of lobster and filet served under a canopy twinkling with outdoor lights.
  • Burnt orange, rich fabrics like taffeta and brocade, and leaves (lots of them) accent your fall wedding. Guests can enjoy a rich cream soup in a small hollowed out pumpkin shell and hot apple cider while cozying up at our fireplace.
  • Illuminate the drama of your winter wedding with sleek white décor, crystal and metallic accents and soft blue hues in the glow of candle light. Winter weddings were made for a formal black-tie event commemorated in black and white photography. A vodka luges ice sculpture is a fun and memorable way to thaw the frostiest reception guest and get the party started.
  • The soft, romantic pastels of spring may be the traditional choice; however, an all-white wedding with a surprising “pop” of fluorescent color is the trend for fashionable spring nuptials. Romance rules in the spring, so don’t hesitate to up the ante of a spring wedding with fairy-tale-esque details such as ultra-romantic attire, layers of tulle, a meadow-full of peonies and hyacinths, and a meal consisting of tasting plates of watermelon salad, sweet pea risotto and finger sandwiches.

These suggestions are only the tip of the iceberg (hum, an ocean theme in the making, perhaps?) when it comes to the endless possibilities for your theme wedding at the Warrington Country Club.

What theme are you considering for your wedding, or what interesting/unusual theme weddings have you been the guest of? Let us know!

The Virtual Bridal Dressing Room

There is certainly no risk, mid-way through the year 2012, to boldly declare that modern society embraces technology. We love it. We can’t seem to get enough of it.

Every single day it seems another product or service, which was once clearly in the domain of “bricks and mortar”, has gone the way of “click and order”. Gone are the days when the delivery of books, clothing or shoes within days of placing an order online is considered revolutionary. Now it seems almost anything can be purchased conveniently online, and received equally as conveniently on one’s doorstep in less than a week.

Almost anything.

Of course there still exist items that one could never order online. Some things are just too specialized, too customized, just too darn important, to ever leave to the anonymity of a keyboard and screen. Some things must be experienced, touched and tried on in effort to judge the appearance and fit. Things like, say, a wedding dress–right?

Not so fast.

Brides.com has introduced an online feature whereby a bride-to-be can create a head-to-toe wedding-day look, and never leave the comfort of her home. Called “The Brides Dressing Room”, a woman can upload her own photograph, or use a body model provided, and virtually try on an endless selection of dresses searched by silhouette, price, designer and hemline. The same online feature is available to bridesmaids and the mother of the bride as well.

Once an account is established and a picture (taken against a plain-colored background while wearing form fitting attire such as a bathing suit) is uploaded, the user clicks and drags “fit points” on to the picture. These fit points determine how the dress fits the body. The fit can be adjusted simply by use of the navigation bar. Favorites can be saved to an album and shared (say it all together) on Facebook where “Friends” can weigh in on the selection.
I don’t want to sound old, cynical or in any way anti-technology, however, in my humble opinion; I believe some once-in-a-lifetime purchases deserve a trip, via motor-car or trolley, to the local mercantile.

Luckily, Brides.com believes as I do and has made it as easy as a keystroke to find the nearest store to find the virtual selection in real-life — where one can seek the assistance of a professional in the selection and fit of the most important ensembles of a lifetime.

Who knows, maybe this internet-thingy isn’t so alienating after all.

The professionals at Warrington Country Club can help you personalize your Bucks County Wedding and still be within your budget.  We schedule appointments 7 days a week –

This is not to suggest that such wedding dance classics such as the introduction of the bridal party, the bride and groom’s first dance, and the dance that has ruined more mascara, “Daddy’s Little Girl”, are no longer acceptable at the modern wedding reception.
