Wedding Reception Conversation Starters

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

wedding couple dancingl 150x150 Wedding Reception Conversation StartersThere is a long list of conversation starters out there from Guestbook to Fill-in-the-Blank. Our favorite, however, is a Song and Dance Starter.

Instead of numbering the tables, designate a song title to each one. When that song is played, the entire table gets up and dances. Have your band or DJ play these songs throughout the reception and then ask the guests at that table to hit the dance floor. Print the titles on card stock and place at each table for this ‘Table Dance Game’ then have the DJ incorporate these songs into the play list. You may want to consult with the band or DJ for songs they find to be ‘surefire’ dance songs.

These and other conversation starters are shown in detail at MarthatStewartWeddings.com

Wedding Ring Sets

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

Wedding ring sets can be the perfect choice for couples who want a matching set of wedding rings.

There are advantages of purchasing wedding ring sets:

  • Cost effective. Generally buying your wedding rings as a complete set will cost less
  • Match. Although the groom’s wedding ring may be a bigger version of the bride’s. Today’s wedding ring sets can include wedding rings that need not be identical, but share a common theme.

Disadvantages of purchasing wedding ring sets:

  • May be too fancy / not fancy enough. Say the bride is hoping for plenty of swirls and bling while the groom is hoping for a chunky black ring. By incorporating part of the bride’s design as a highlight in the groom’s wedding ring could be subtle and pull them both together.
  • May not suit both the bride and groom’s lifestyle. Daily requirements for both the bride and groom can also be a challenge. However, there are metals now that can endure rigorous physical and chemical challenges. Such metals include titanium, tungsten and ceramic.
  • Matching other jewelry. A couple may feel they are going to be stuck with the same color metal when one might like stainless steel and the other rose gold. There are many wedding ring styles that incorporate more than one metal or more than one color.

Wedding ring sets are a great way for couples wanting matching wedding rings. Today the contemporary spin on wedding ring sets is that they can share a common theme or metal, still resulting in wedding rings that are perceived as a match.

Warrington Country Club’s Top 5 Wedding Trends

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

Below are some trends we are seeing for our Bucks County Weddings. See what you think:

Outdoor Ceremony in our Lovely Gardens

  1. Receptions “Gone Green”. Brides are adding earth friendly favors like wildflower seeds or donating to eco friendly charities in place of favors. Taking steps to lessen their carbon footprints, many Brides are having outdoor ceremonies and replacing plastic or glass centerpieces with pots of fresh plants and flowers. The centerpieces can then be gifts to your guests.
  2. Couples are using their family heritage as a theme to define their wedding by going back to the family traditions and incorporating the basics into their wedding. Popular themes we’ve seen have been the Irish wedding – with a pub at the reception and Jordan almond favors and cookie trays for the Italian wedding.
  3. Two wedding dresses. Some brides are choosing a traditional formal wedding dress for the ceremony and pictures and then changing into a shorter formal or tea length dress for the reception, leaving her tiara in her hair and taking off the veil.
  4. Splashes of color. Weddings have traditionally followed a neutral color scheme of solid ivory or white flowers. The latest trend is to use a color that pops in your wedding pictures by adding colorful bouquets for the wedding party and the reception tables.
  5. Writing your own vows is a trend that has been carried on. Couples need to say what they feel instead of repeating vows written by someone else many years ago. Write your own vows to give you a time to reflect on your relationship and marriage.

The “Staycation” Meets Honeymoon

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

The popular “staycation trend” unites with the honeymoon as couples skip the expense and carbon footprint associated with long distance travel in

favor of romantic hometown adventures.

There are some ‘cons’ to the popular ‘destination wedding’:

  • If you are marrying at a resort, someone you’ve no doubt never met is going to be managing all the details — from the wedding cake to flowers.
  • The dollar is down right now. There was a time when Americans could stroll about for pennies a day, but those days are gone and no doubt will never come again.
  • Planning from afar can add additional stress unless you hire a coordinator.
  • You’ve signed the papers but may not actually be married! Not all marriage ceremonies conducted in your destination country may be recognized as legal in your home country.
  • Relaxation may not be in the plans. Even though you may be bordered by sandy white beaches, the pre-wedding duties will most likely get in the way of your down time. And don’t expect a break once you say “I do” if the family is staying anywhere nearby. They may insist on your attention

So, what better place to plan your Wedding and “staycation-moon” than beautiful Bucks County where you can visit the museums, local theaters, parks, picnic, and enjoy romantic dining.

Classic Wedding Trends

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

Every bride wants to be glamorous, so consider moving toward the trend for a traditional wedding.vintage bucks county weddingl 300x199 Classic Wedding Trends

Vintage Weddings are increasing with elegant styles. People love buying and wearing vintage wedding dresses, vintage transportation to get to their wedding, vintage wedding accessories and decorations and even having wedding photos produced in sepia tone finishes. Veiled, jeweled or feathered hats are totally in – plus they cost less than a traditional veil.

This is the stuff dream weddings are made of.

Did you know that your booking at Warrington Country Club includes your own Personal Coordinator to the Wedding Party & Guests through the Entire Reception?

Personalize Your Wedding

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

The latest fashion in wedding planning is personalization. Brides everywhere are searching for ways to personalize their big day and make it ‘one of kind’.

It’s no shock the thoughts of dresses, invitations, venues and cakes, begin to consume every thought. Picking the date, choosing the flowers, managing the family members and their opinions, are just a few things that can drain a bride-to-be’s creativeness.

So what’s a bride to do?

There are many costly ways to make your wedding day memorable, but there are alternatives to breaking budget with unoriginal ideas. The up-and-coming movement is to personalize your wedding day.

Create invites that will amuse.

The days of who, what, where and when invitations are gone – personalized invitations are in. Since your invitations will be the first impression guests will have of your event, it’s important you pick a color, motif, and style that’s consistent with the theme of the day. Incorporate pictures, different fonts and choose the wording to fit your character.

Get your friends and family involved.

Yes the wedding day is mainly all about you and your groom, but it is also a special day for your family and friends. Get those closest to you involved to make your day unforgettable for everyone.

Get with the program.

Instead of the traditional programs brides hand out before the ceremony, add flair to yours and have some fun:

• Personalize your programs and jazz it up with a roster sheet. Give your bridesmaids and groomsmen descriptions that reflect their personalities.

• Your personal thoughts of the bridal party will make every bridesmaid and groomsmen feel unique, and your guests will have something to laugh about before you make your walk down the aisle.

Tips for the Reception

Flaunt your initials.

Commemorate your new last name by monogramming everything from the invitations to the napkins and favors. You can create your own monogrammed creation by searching the Internet for ideas and using your home computer’s graphic capabilities.

Remember to make the color, motif and design all your own. Be original!

Make your decorations picture perfect.

Create a gallery of family and friends’ wedding and engagement photos at your reception site.

Mount pictures in the same type of frame or mix and match for a diverse feel. No matter how you organize your photo gallery, family and friends are sure to fall in love all over again at the site of their photos. Make sure you add photos of you and your groom, as well.

Show guests where you’ve been.

Instead of using a boring system to differentiate tables, give guests an idea of where you’ve visited. Frame photos of you and your groom at different places you’ve gone together as a couple and label them with the name of the place. Each location is special because you shared the memory. Guests will enjoy walking from table to table to see all the fun places you’ve been.

Be brave and creative – try new things – personalize!

Wedding Centerpiece Fun

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

Some fun and conventional ideas to determine who will get the reception centerpiece include:

1. The person who has a birthday nearest to the day

2. The couple who have been together the longest

3. Or the couple who were married most recently

4. Maybe the person with the longest hair

5. Or the person with the strangest shoes

Your guests will love taking part and have fun if you make a game out of it.
